Report on a queer-feminist "take back the night" march in Montreal.
On August 16, a queer-feminist "Take Back The Night" march was held in the neighborhood of Hochelaga-Maisoneuve in Montreal. The demonstration took place within the annual Perversite radical queer festival, and the intention was to reclaim the streets in a neighborhood which is often unsafe for queer people, sex workers, and other people who live and work in the area.
Despite the police declaring the march illegal and trying to force the small group off the streets, they still managed to march all the way downtown to Katacombes where a dance party was taking place.
